Disc 1

Bart gets an F

Chalkboard: I will not encourage others to fly
Couch: All sit and then fall through floor

Bart fails his book report on Treasure Island. Leading to a new chalk board writing that says "I will not fake my way through life." I like the game Bart's play trying to escape from his Grandmother. We also learn what God, "A force stronger than mom and dad put together." Maggies little star snow suit is cute as well.
This is a fun epidsode that shows that Bart can be motivated if pressured properly. The whole snow day scene is a litte surreal, but it is TV. Good start to the second season.

Simpson and Deliah

Chalkboard: Tar is not a plaything
Couch: Do the Egyptian

Disc 2

Bart vs. Thanksgiving

Chalkboard: I will not do that thing with my tongue
Couch: Grandpa sleeping on it and is then scared

This episodes reveals a lot about the Simpson family and how they relate to each other. We see a common theme in that Bart really does car for his sister. It also has a special place for me, because as someone who as ADD, as Bart does, I find myself doing things that I can't explain or understand why I do them, as Bart confides to Lisa at the end of the episode that he doesn't know why he does what he does.
Another aspect of this episode that I like is that you see that Bart can appreciate what he has when he offers money to the bums when they say it must be sweet that he has a family to go home. The whole episode drives home the importance and the joy of family. Although, this is contrasted by a reminder of how both Homer and Marge's father and mother respectively treat them with no love. It makes you wonder how Homer & Marge became loving parents as they are.

Bart the Daredevil

Chalkboard: I will not drive the principal's car
Couch: Couch fall over and Maggie falls off onto a cushion

This episode includes perhaps my favorite Simpson's scene. When Home falls down the cliff and then gets heli-lifted into the ambulancem and then the ambulance crashes and Homer falls down the cliff again. I laugh like crazy EVERY time. Other than that, this episode is average for me. Bart is disobeying Homer as usual. There are some good laughs at the hospital when Lisa tries to convince Bart not to jump, but not a whole lot else extremely funny.

Itchy & Scratchy & Marge

This is one of my favorite epidsodes. Marge gets upset about all of the violence in Itchy & Scratchy cartoons and get violence banned from them. I love how they really over blow the situation and make fun of wacky mothers. (Reminds me a lot of South Park The Movie.) Especially how much the exagerrate how much better the kids are after they stop watching TV, and how great life is when all the kids stop watching TV.
Finally, I enjoy the irony of the late Dr. Marvin Monroe saying that Marge can't oppose violence on TV and support Michalangelo's David. Marge protests, pointint out that they are two different things, but Dr. Monroe disagrees. So, Marge conlcludes that, "Well, I guess one person can change the world, but I guess they shouldn't." In short, every thing in the panel interview is absolutely brilliant and hillarious, I really can't stress this enough!

Bart Gets Hit by a Car

Chalkboard: I will not Sell School Property
Couch: Home by himself, rest of family on floor

This is not one of my favorite episodes. Mr. Burns hits Bart with his car and then a law suit ensues. It is, I beleive, the first appearance of Lionel Hutz & Dr. Nick Rivera. This is a classic play on crooked law suits and greed run amuck. Nothing particularly wrong with it, but just not one of my favorites.

One Fish, Two Fish, Blowfish, Blue Fish

Chalkboard: I will not cut corners
"" "" "" ""

Couch: Couch falls over backwards and Maggie's head pops up

This episode tickled me a little bit, because you get a lot of Homer. It also has a real special place in my heart because I had just learned about the Keebler-Ross 5 stages of dying the first time I saw it. So, when Homer goes through it in like 20 seconds, it was very funny to me. You get a chance to see Homer go through all of his emotions and friends and family. It reminds me of what I do if I ate poison blow fish. Especially in light of Tim McGraw's song Live Like You Were Dying it makes you want to live for the moment. It has a lot of what I love about the Simpson's, a treatment of real life issues in a comic fashion.

The Way We Was

Chalkboard: I will not get very far with this attitude
Couch: Crashes through floor

This is a cute litte episode that gives some background on the Simpsons. Cute but not particularly funny or one of my favorites. It makes me sad in a way to see how far Marge has sunk as she lets Homer control her. She used to have fire and fight and now she is just his stepping stone. :( Maybe it isn't quite that bad, but he definately could be nicer to her.

Disc 3

Homer vs. Lisa and the 8th Commandment

Chalkboard: I will not make flatulent noises in class.
Couch: Doing the Egyptian

Homer decides to steal cable in this epidsode. At the same time he steals the cable, Bart and Lisa learn about stealing in Sunday school. Lisa has a big problem with this and tries to find the truth about stealing cable. Fortunately, Homer has a pamphlet explaining why it is okay to steal cable. The cumulation of the episode comes when a big fight is coming up and Homer invites all of his friends. Lisa boycotts the event to save her soul and eventually Homer subsides. This epidsode is especially poignant to me in light of all of the news about piracy and the Internet. This epidsode touches on the issues of what is legal "sharing" and what is stealing. There a few funny lines, but overall it is a bit more moral than funny.

Lisa's Substitute

Chalkboard: No Chalkboard Scene on DVD
Couch: Missing Couch

Lisa's teacher, Miss Hoover gets "Lyme Disease", and the substitute is a nice guy who Lisa falls in love with. It is not a particularly funny episode, but it is a nice story. Mostly the episode highlights Homer's deficiencies as a father and the silliness of little girls. Also thrown into the mix is a little story about Bart losing the election for class president because he and none of his friends voted. This is critical because we learn that popularity is the most important thing. Homer also points out the flaws in the suggested donation system at museums.

The War of the Simpsons

Chalkboard: I will not do anything bad ever again.
Couch: All pop out (smiling on floor) and Homer sits on couch by himself

Homer and Marge are hosting a dinner party and Homer gets smashed and looks down Maude's dress! Well because of this Marge makes them go a marriage counseling retreat. When they get there, Homer wants to fish for "The General", the biggest catfish in the parts. In the end, Homer catches the fish and dumps it back in the lake to prove his love for Marge. This epidose touches me a little, because it reminds me a lot of myself. I try very hard to be a good husband, but something always comes up to slow me down. Homer tries to go fishing, but then says he won't. Then, while on a walk he tries to tell someone they left their pole behind and the all of a sudden he has the generela on the line. It is cute though at the end when the fish winks at us as if he planned all along to restore Homer and Marge's marriage.

Three Men and a Comic Book

Chalkboard: I will not show off (In calligraphy)
Couch:

This epidsode is pretty good. After going to a comic book convention, Bart is inspired to buy Randioactive Man #1. Ultimately Bart, Millhouse, and Martin end up buying the comic together. (Although Millhouse just wanted a Carl Ystrmski, with side burns, card.) After leaving the store to take the comic home the boys realize this arrangement may be more complicated than they thought. Comic book guy says, "Looks like you have may have bought more than you bargained for." The boys end up viewing the comic together and then work out a rather elaborate rotation schedule for the comic. In the end the boys fight until the comic rips and ends up on the ground in the rain.

Blood Feud

Chalkboard: I will not sleep through my education
Couch: All sit and couch falls through floor

After writing this review and watching the episode again, I realized that this is by far one of my favorite episodes. It is hilarious and full of the little Simpsons jokes that make me love the show. Mr. Burns becomes very sick and he needs type Double O negative blood. Everyone else doesn't want to help because they hate Burns, and Homer tries to bring calm. He is outraged! Homer points that there is a dying man with millions of dollars out there. It turns out that Bart as OO blood. Homer convinces him to give blood so he can get a big reward. Burns lives and doesn't pay up, Homer sends off a mean letter right away. In order to reward Bart, Burns buys the Simpsons an Olmec indian head. Homer is still unhappy, but Bart likes it. As is often fun at the end of the show, the family tries to find the moral, and there is none.

This epidsode has many funny episodes. For instance after rushing the blood into the hospital the tech is on the elavator waiting for it to go up, humming and dancing, when he finally realizes that he never pushed the button. Or while Homer is waiting for the check and going through the mail, he is going through, "Bill, bill, bill..."but he is throwing each bill right into the garbage. :) And when they are opening it as a family, Homer says to Lisa, "Dim the lights, turn up the lights, oh... do something," so Lisa turn on the sprinklers. Or my favorite, "Marge, you are living a land of Make-Beleive!"
